Dynamic Chamber Music Ensemble
“...a lush, sweet sound that is achingly alive and emotional.”
--Strings Magazine
Hailed by the Boston Globe as one of Boston’s most promising classical
music groups, A Far Cry performs with the freedom and flexibility of a
string quartet – and the power and beauty of an orchestra.
This groundbreaking group, a 15- to 18-piece string orchestra,
transcends the traditional boundaries of classical music, experimenting
with how it’s prepared, performed and experienced. The young musicians
operate with rotating leadership and no conductor; all artistic
decisions are made by vote.
Recently named Chamber Orchestra in Residence at Boston’s Isabella
Stewart Gardner Museum, A Far Cry also maintains a busy touring schedule
across the U.S. The group also holds an educational partnership with the
New England Conservatory. Making extraordinary music according to their
own rules, A Far Cry is enjoying a heady ascent toward the highest ranks
of today’s new generation of classical ensembles.
